AVANTEK HDTV Antennas picks up and amplifies the over-the-air digital TV signals from nearby broadcast towers, allowing you to watch your favorite shows in full 1080p HD for free!

Avantek, a leader in consumer electronics and accessories, for a while now have been making quality TV antennas that are favorable among many cord cutters around the world. One of their earlier lines of TV antennas, The AR Line, comes in 3 models, the AR-F12, the AR-F13 and the AR-F14, all comes with a 50 mile range and signal boosters. The older models, The AR-F10 and the AR-F11 have been key entry level models that are still popular these days for some.

Between these lines, Avantek also came out with a series of Ultra Thin Indoor Amplified Antennas which resembles the Avantek AR-F13 Antenna. However, there's several key differences with this series. One of the standout features within these Ultra Thin Antennas is the transparent material used in the design of the antenna that exposes the internal component strip which gives it its' unique look.

Also, consumers have a choice of 2 colors, Black or White, while also being able to chose between the 30 mile range model or the 50 mile range model. Another popular lineup of models is the "AR Line" of indoor antennas that includes the "the Avantek AR 41, the Avantek AR 51 and the Avantek AR 53" which are all unique in their design scheme and features.

The Avantek AR 51 Amplified Indoor Antenna is a fairly OK model within the lineup but it still packs some great features. The Avantek AR 51 comes in a sleek and smooth black and white compact panel design profile similar to the AR-F14 design but slightly bulkier and also allows the antenna to mix into its' surroundings, blending in with your other electronics and accessories. Signal wise, it comes with a fair reception range for its similar range counterparts.

The Avantek AR 51 Antenna, like its sister models, has a 50 mile range reception and comes with a external amplifier, allowing you to pick up just all you local and many of the top HD channels in your area. Like all amplified antennas, the Avantek AR-F14 give you more boost for a broader reception range, providing you with crystal clear HDTV channels.

This particular model, like the AR 51, comes with a 5-Foot coaxial cable which is pretty short in standards, but you can always be extended in a few simple steps.

Even with the 5-Foot coaxial cable, it still enables versatility of placement. The high-quality built-in coaxial cables allow you to stand it up horizontally or vertically using the detachable easel stand. One key difference with the Avantek AR 51 model is its' rabbit ears antennas that you have been seeing phasing out from the newer antennas on the markets. A little old school but many people still prefer rabbit ears antennas over the newer sleek models.

The Good

The Avantek AR 51 mid range antenna is is the earlier  model of the favorable AR-F14 and have some good features about this antenna. The first being the classic rabbit ear antennas. While some may refer a more up to date design for their indoor antenna, you can still find many who prefer the rabbit ears style indoor antennas.

As with the older line up of Avantek Antennas, you will still see particularly favorable reviews for these antennas, this being the lowest out of their entire lineup. Although this is a mid-range antenna and works best for those living in the city area and surrounding rural areas, consumers who have purchased this product reported receiving reception further than 50 miles away and in some cases, some reported receiving 20+ channels in some markets.

The Bad

This particular model, the AR 51, although a good indoor HDTV antenna, has some design flaws we believe that took the potential out of this antenna. Some people who have purchased this product showed reviews of not being able to pug in the external amplifier into their TV because of limited space or positioning of their TV inputs. Also, with only 5-Foot of coaxial cable, some may require an extension to reach their TV's.

See Below for Step-by-Step installation instructions on setting up your Avantek AR 51 Amplified Antenna

The installation may be a bit confusing at first for some with everything you have to connect and some see this as a bit of a turn off. Another feature many may not be to enthused about is the rabbit ears located on the back of the antenna. With the key features all being external, the rabbit ears and the antennas, it comes across as if its nothing more but a slightly bulkier version of its successor, the AR-F14 with an unnecessary box.

While there is electronic components within the panel we must add, these are just some of the thoughts and opinions that some may have about this Avantek indoor antenna.
