Amazon has stepped their game when it comes to streaming video and music. Two of their services that are really worth taking a look into is the Amazon Prime Video subscription streaming service and Amazon Video, its' Video on Demand service.

Amazon's two video streaming services gives you the options of Renting, Buying or a Subscription to access thousands of movies and TV show episodes.

Many people will look at the two and probably get confused, but we sorted out the details so you can understand. Lets have a look at the Amazon Video, their Video On Demand service. 

What Is Amazon Video (formerly Amazon Instant Video)

When you purchase a streaming media device (Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast, smart TV, game consoles, PCs, smart Blu-ray players, etc) you have thousands of channel apps to choose from, like Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, and Amazon Video just to name a few.

There is no monthly fee to get access to Amazon Video, it is free to download and you have the options of buying and renting premium movies. Some of the movies and TV shows you can rent starts at $1.99 and some movies you can buy starts at $14.99 while the TV shows you can buy by the episode, starts at $1.99. Some TV show episodes are also free to watch but it is usually just 1 episode.

To put it basically, Amazon Video which is free to download on most streaming media players, is the name of the channel app itself, which lets you purchase and rent premium and new movie and TV show titles. The movie titles includes the new Hunger Games, Star Wars, The Revenant and Daddy's Home just to name a few. Some of the TV show episodes that you can buy for $1.99 are The Walking Dead, Vikings, Blacklist, Scandal and more.

What is Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video is the subscription streaming service that gives you unlimited access to exclusive and original programming from Amazon like Transparent, Bosch, Hand of God, Mozart in the Jungle and much more. You will also get access to thousands of popular movie and TV show titles. Access to Prime Video comes through the Amazon Video app, but requires you to sign into your account to access all of the subscription streaming content.

Access to Prime Video comes in 2 tiers: $8.99 per month for the stand alone streaming service and if your already Prime Membership which costs $99 per year, you will get Prime Video at no additional cost.
